Every time I wear this French linen dress from ichi Antiquités, I'm reminded of how beautiful a silhouette can be when it's created with such generous amounts of fabric.
Made from 100% French linen, the fabric has a natural luster and a wonderfully rich texture. Its gentle structure allows the gathers and softly rounded sleeves to hold their beautiful shape. And as with all good linen, it gradually becomes softer and more comfortable with every wear.
I especially love the delicate gathers around the neckline and yoke, which create such lovely volume and movement.
The dress has a generously relaxed fit, but what makes it special is the way the fabric falls naturally when worn, creating a beautiful, flowing silhouette rather than simply looking oversized.
And then there's this gorgeous Camel shade.
Warm, rich, and not too bright, it's a color that brings out the natural beauty of French linen. I love pairing it with Black shoes and a bag for contrast, or layering it with an Ivory knit. Burgundy and Brown are also beautiful companions as the seasons turn cooler.
One of my favorite ways to wear this dress is completely unbuttoned, as a long, lightweight coat.
Simply throw it over a T-shirt and pants, and even the simplest everyday outfit takes on a whole new character. I particularly love the way the linen moves and flows as you walk.
Of course, it's just as lovely worn buttoned up as a dress on its own.
When the weather gets colder, try layering it over a turtleneck or a soft knit. The roomy armholes make it especially comfortable for layering.
