There is something I love about this time of year.
Summer is still lingering, but little by little, we begin to think about what we want to wear for the season ahead.
And this is exactly when layering becomes especially beautiful.

The starting point for this look is the Veritecoeur | Sleeveless Gathered Top.
Made from a soft cotton-silk fabric, it feels light enough to wear on its own while the days are still warm. The generous gathering creates a beautiful, airy silhouette, with just enough volume to make even a simple outfit feel special.
But what I especially love about this piece is what happens when another layer is added.
Over it, I chose the maison de soil | Twill Cotton Khadi Plain Frill Cache Coeur.
The soft, handwoven cotton khadi and delicate frill around the neckline give the piece a wonderfully light feeling. Rather than closing it like a wrap top, I simply leave it open and wear it as a light jacket.
And then something lovely happens.

The gathers of the sleeveless top peek out beneath the cache-coeur, while the two different layers move softly together.
Gather over gather.
Soft fabric over soft fabric.
A little volume, but never too heavy.
I love this balance.
In fact, after putting this styling together, I liked it so much that I am already thinking, “This is what I want to wear tomorrow.”
That is usually the best sign for me.

For the lighter combination, I paired the soft pink of the sleeveless top with the white cache-coeur and the relaxed shape of the Gauze# | Light Mocha Denim Charlie Pants.
The muted colors make the layers feel gentle and effortless—perfect for these days between summer and fall.

For a deeper autumn feeling, I chose the Veritecoeur | Sleeveless Gathered Top with the maison de soil | Twill Cotton Khadi Plain Frill Cache Coeur, finishing the look with the (g) | Light Denim Slow Pants.
The darker tones completely change the mood, even though the idea of the styling remains the same.
That is another reason I love these pieces.
You do not have to put away your summer clothes when September arrives.
Wear the sleeveless top alone while it is warm.
Add the cache-coeur when the air becomes cooler.
Later in the season, add another layer underneath.
One piece moves naturally into the next season simply by changing what you wear with it.
For me, this is one of the pleasures of choosing clothes made from beautiful natural fabrics and thoughtful silhouettes.
Not clothes for only one moment of the year, but pieces that stay with us as the seasons slowly change.
From late summer into fall,
I hope you will enjoy creating your own layers.
