【private】Watching Her Step Forward: My Daughter’s Graduation Day

This spring, my daughter graduated from high school.

The photo here was taken at her graduation ceremony the other day. In Japan, students typically graduate from high school at the age of 18. While that age may be considered adulthood in many countries, here in Japan, it still feels quite young.

Balancing motherhood with running miel over the past 18 years hasn’t always been easy—but it all went by in the blink of an eye. Looking back now, I often find myself reminiscing about her early childhood. Sometimes, I even feel like I can still hear her high-pitched little voice echoing in the house.

At the ceremony, many of my friends attended in beautiful kimonos, which is a common choice in Japan for celebratory occasions like this. As for me, I attended in an outfit from miel, of course. It was such a special day, and I felt happy and proud to be there in something that truly reflected my style.

Now, my daughter is stepping into a brand new chapter. I hope she builds a life that’s full of joy, meaning, and her own beautiful sense of purpose.
