This is a cache-coeur blouse. The pattern is expressed on a thin 80 count cotton voile fabric by “block printing”, one of the traditional techniques inherited in AJRAK village in Gujarat, India, where a hand-carved wooden plate is used and hand-pressed to print on the fabric. The checkered pattern is made in a special way by pressing the stripe pattern plate twice from different angles. This is a cache-coeur blouse, a standard item at maison de soil, with fine pintucks luxuriously applied on the front and back sides. The tassels at the end of the ties that fasten the front overlay give it a somewhat ethnic feel and accentuate its swaying. It can be worn as a cache-coeur with the front closed, or simply worn as a cardigan, giving it an appealing design with a strong presence.

maison de soil

SOIL means “earth” or “land,” and maison de soil conjures up the image of a studio or workshop standing on the land.

It offers products that are for niche markets and of high quality.

Guiding concepts: GENUINE, HAND-CRAFTED, LEISURELY

Designs are inspired by vintage costumes without being too eccentric or showy.

They are all extremely realistic and attempt, first and foremost, to bring out the best qualities of the material itself.

Most of our products use traditional fabrics and materials from different parts of the world and are hand-stitched

and hand-embroidered patiently by skilled artisans.

The finished products, therefore, exude the warmth unique to things made by hand.
