She also invented the first environmentally friendly colored cotton that can be spun into yarn by machine. He has been called a “cotton pioneer” for his work in organic, colored cotton, and traditional wheat. In California, USA, there are fields of completely pesticide-free organic cotton grown by Sally Fox. By alternately planting fields of cotton and soybeans, she practices pesticide-free cultivation by taking advantage of the natural cycle in which the ladybugs on the soybeans eat the pests on the cotton.
